How Freedom Chiropractic and Massage Got Started

In October 2001 the clinic first opened its doors in Calgary at #216 422 11 th Avenue S.E. ; originally it was staffed with Dr. Sandy Macleod, Dr. Ron Manns and Julian Scott-Brown RMT. Different scenarios lead them to move to into their present facility and naming of the clinic was easy as all three felt like they had found their professional freedom. The clinic has gone through a genesis since its early days and in December 2002 Ms. Michelle Duska came on board to handle the management duties of the clinic.

Further change occurred in 2003 when Dr. Dean Allan joined the clinic in April. He is another Palmer graduate and has moved home to Calgary to pursue his dream of being a Chiropractor. His addition has added some youthful vitality and with the similar adjusting training has provided a consistent approach to treating patients. Ms. Katie Kickbush then joined the clinic for summer work and has continued to stay on and help part time while attending college. Another big change occurred in August 2003 when Dr. Manns left for a new opportunity in Puerto Rico .

The clinic treats a wide variety of conditions from acute to chronic injuries. Sports related injuries, motor vehicle injuries, repetitive strain injuries, problem that are created from congenital abnormalities and postural balance issues. The clinic has a wide variety of professional relationships that allows us to refer patients to different practitioners if we feel they could benefit from their special training and treatment. The bottom line at Freedom is to get the patient back to the point where they have the freedom to be..

A Word on Backpacks.

Choose a backpack that is proportionate to the body size and not larger than what is needed. The shoulder straps should be 2 inches wide, adjustable and padded. The backpacks should never exceed 15% of a secondary school child's weight, or 10% of an elementary school child. Ensure the weight is evenly distributed in the backpack, pack the heaviest items closest to the body as this reduces the strain on the back and don't overload the backpack. Wear both straps and adjust them so the pack fits snugly to the body.
